Welcome to Y1 Oak!
Your teachers are Miss Palmer and Mrs Ord. Your teaching assistant is Mrs Whittingham.
It is only our second day back after the holidays and we have already had so much excitement!
We had some visitors who gave us some eggs to look after.
Today they have started to hatch and we have a new baby chicken!!!!
Our focus for learning journey this half term is SUPERHEROES!!!
We have all been very excited!
We have thought about what it takes to be a Superhero and decided that it is very important for them to be able to fly!
We are learning about our senses and how a Superhero might have super duper senses!
We learnt about the different parts of an eye and some very big words!
We were also really lucky and had the chance to learn some Judo with Gary from the British Judo Association. We felt like real Superheroes!
It is National Science week 13th - 17th March. We will be having a week of fun filled science experiments and look forward to telling you all about it at our class assembly on Tuesday 28th March.
We are also hoping to have a visit to the Fire Station to learn more about real life heroes!
Our Learning Question for Spring 1 is
'Into the woods'.
We have been having fun exploring the woods around our school.
We found lots of different leaves on the floor! We then found out about how trees change in the different seasons.
In maths we have been counting in twos, fives and tens.
We had lots of fun with socks!
In English, we have been looking at the story of Little Red Riding Duck.
We made our own story map and then rewrote the story.
