Our Learning Journey this half term is, 'Extraordinary Engineers!'.  We will be learning about famous people who have designed and built bridges, design our own bridge and learn about life on an island.

In Reading, we will be learning about the story, 'The Minpins' by Roald Dahl. We will be ordering events, finding information, learning new vocabulary, making predictions and hunting for clues to answer questions.

In Writing, we will be learning about the story, 'George and the Dragon' by Chris Wormell.  We will be writing character descriptions, non-chronological reports, book reviews and letters using the story.

We will be continuing to develop our fluency with daily reading using the colour banded books that are available in your classroom.  You can help by reading at home every day.  Please also read to your child to help them hear a range of different stories and information books.

In maths, we are practising how to add and subtract two digit numbers, multiply and divide numbers using 2, 5 and 10 times tables, use the inverse operation to solve calculations and find fractions of amounts and sets of objects. Try these fun games!

Please make sure that your child also has trainers, tracksuit bottoms/leggings and a warm jumper so that we can go outside. Home Learning Summer One 2017.

Please read every day with your child.  Reading stories and books to your child really helps to develop their love of reading. It is important that your child also practises reading their home-school reading book, which has a colour sticker on the front cover.

Your child has a list of spellings to learn.  Please practise these in their spellings book, using Look, Cover, Write, Check.

Please practise counting to 100, forwards and backwards.  We are also learning our two times table.  Your child has a 100 number square if they need to use it. Try playing some maths games together, using your 100 number square.
