Spring 2 learning documents

This half term we shall base our class learning around the learning journey question, 'How does the way we look define us?' This science topic will be based around the classification of living things and will have clear links to our class text and curriculum.

Please enable yourself and your child to familiarise themselves with the knowledge organiser at home as this will be something that we will regularly test the children on in terms of the knowledge they gain from the topic. There will be distinctive links to the key words from this in our science learning. Children are also encouraged to take part in the home learning menu set for the half term and we would love to see some of this work brought into school and to be used to support class learning and to be showcased on our topic display.

Parents/carers can also use the curriculum overview to see what we are getting up to in our learning in Y6.

Spring 2 Week 2-3

Spring 2 Week 1

Spring 1 Knowledge Organiser

Please look through the following documents to support your child and your own understanding of the curriculum that shall be delivered over this half term. Attached are some home learning activities for your child to complete over the upcoming weeks and it is encouraged for them to share these in class by bringing these in. This additional learning will also be displayed within the classroom for others to see.

It is important that children familiarise themselves with this half term's Knowledge Organiser as they will be required to display good understanding of the key words also taught through the science topic, 'What makes me unique?' You can test your children at home using the key words and their definitions regularly to support their understanding of these.

Crucial Crew Spring 1 Trip

The Y6's really enjoyed their time at Crucial Crew on Friday and were a credit to the school; your behaviour was excellent throughout the day. It was lovely to see you all engaged whilst learning about how to keep safe.

Our Learning!

We have been really busy in Y6 over the past week in all areas of our learning. We wrote a set of instructions on how to make a Brazilian dessert- brigadeiro. We have carried out a range of practical activities such as ordering instructions based on the language that was included and looking at a range of sentence types: statement, command, question and exclamation.

On Friday, we focused on how we can use a range of calculations to solve calculations where we can make links. We had a go at comparing and making links in some example calculations and commented on the links that we made in order to work these out mentally.

It has been lovely to hear that some of you have been making your own brigadeiros at home and enjoying how delicious they taste! If you would like to make your own at home, here is the recipe that you can follow:
