Autumn Term 2
Week 1:
This week in maths we have been exploring number. We have been developing our number recognition skills, counting skills by matching the correct amount to a number and thinking of different ways to represent a number.
We are learning about the story Puffin Peter
We have been thinking about things we want to find out about puffins.
We watched a video to look at the different ways puffins move. We can show you at home.
Learning question: Why am I special?
We will be exploring our classroom.
We will be learning about the full school day and will be taking part in many activities.
We will be engaged in provision independently.
We will be getting to know all the children and adults in our class.
We will be settling in our new to Acres Hill children by creating a friendly, calm and happy environment.
We will be making new friends.
We have been reading the story of the Owl Babies.
We have been thinking about how the owls felt when their mummy owl had gone.
We have been naming and describing the owls.
In literacy we have created drawings of the owls and made a WANTED poster for mummy owl.
The children enjoyed echoing Bill's voice by saying
'I WANT MY MUMMY'.
In Maths, we have be practising our counting skills.
We have been counting on and back from 20.
We have been counting a given number of objects from a large group and making comparisons.
In theme we have been discussing what makes us the same and what makes us different.
This has been great! We have enjoyed exploring our own unique personalities and learning more about each other.
" We all come in different size, colour and shape. We are are the same, we are all wonderful people".
In art we have been looking at the work of Pablo Picasso. We developed our painting skills and created self portraits by using bright colours.
